Muay Thai & Kickboxing
The martial art of Muay Thai originates from Thailand. It has a long history of being taught to Thai Royal Soldiers for weaponless combat.
Also known as Thai boxing this style of fighting has long been respected for its capacity as a brutal martial art, due to its striking techniques that utilise the elbows and knees as well as hands and feet.
These days both Muay Thai and Kickboxing enjoy popularity as an international fighting sport and as a way to train and keep fit in many gyms and clubs around the world.
At the Laos Toohey Fitness Centre we offer mixed group training sessions 3 times week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. These classes run all year round, with the only break beingĀ on public holidays and end of year school holidays.
Toohey also offers private training and coaching for Muay Thai and Kickboxing fighters.
The gym is fully equipped with punching/kicking bags and a heavy bag for conditioning. We also carry, Thai Pads and some Mitts.
It is recommended that you do bring your own gloves for protection. If you have your own Focus Mitts or Thai Pads, please feel free to bring them along.
Some members run as a part of their warm up. Any member can join them – just bring your runners along.
Otherwise the general format of the sessions comprises of warming up (skipping, stretching, kicking and shadow boxing), combinations, drills and techniques, and core training.
