Taekwondo
With its origins dating back over 2000 years, it’s no surprise that the Korean martial art of Taekwondo which is also the national sport of South Korea, is the world’s most popular martial art.
We are one of over 15 branches of the Melbourne Taekwondo Centre, which was founded in 1963 by Mr Jack Rozinszky.
In 1967 Mr Rozinsky was the first (non-Korean) Australian to receive his 1st Dan Black Belt. He was also the first (non-Korean) Australian to receive his 9th Dan Black Belt, one of only a few in the world.
At our MTC Dandenong branch, our philosophy is that you are never too old to develop new skills, fitness, conditioning, flexibility and learn realistic self-defence systems that work.
Our Taekwondo Classes offer:
A skill building program for children through which they can improve habits, concentration and self discipline.
Classes for children of 5 years of age onwards through to mature aged students.
Self defence for self protection and confidence building.
Fitness conditioning through physical exercise, training and development.
Sparring classes as a part of our interclub programs, or for those interested in pursuing competition sparring.
Through our classes you will also learn aspects of Taekwondo such as kicking, punching and blocking techniques and Poomses that will allow you to progress and achieve higher ranks when you are ready.
The MTC belt ranks are as follows: White, Orange (Juniors), Yellow (9th-7th Gup/1-3 Stripes), Blue (6th-4th Gup/1-3 Stripes), Red (3rd-1st Gup/1-3 Stripes), Black (1st Dan onwards).
